Many blame societal failure, poor parental guidance, and a struggling economy for pushing teenagers into such harmful lifestyles, painting a grim picture for the future of Nigeria’s youth. Meta Description: Asaba trends online as Nigerians debate rising teen fraud, hookup culture, and moral decline, blaming failed parenting and a struggling economy.

Asaba is the capital city of Delta State in southern Nigeria that offers a mix of modern amenities and natural attractions. It has many attractions, including the Asaba Museum of Native History, the Lander Brothers Anchorage, and the River Niger. Visitors can enjoy traditional foods and music performances, as well as explore the local markets and handicraft centers. Asaba is also a gateway to the famous Ogbunike Caves, which offer a unique and mystical experience.
The vibrant city of Asaba.
However, very recently on the streets of twitter Asaba is trending because it has been awarded as the worst place in Nigeria to raise the girl child, perceived as the hub of yahoo yahoo and hook up, according to public opinions. Closely followed by Benin city which shares a very close border with it.
This was further escalated by viral videos of two Asaba girls aged 16 & 18 respectively, who spoke boastfully about their lifestyle which got many wondering about their lifestyle and if their parents were still alive.
A 16 year old girl comfortably talked about how she got into yahoo (Internet Fraud) and how she cashed out 300k, wanted to give her mom 200k, but she was robbed of the money on instagram. Because she was too excited, her dad even advised her to calm down.
But she didn't, and lost the money.
She also spoke about how yahoo is hard and she would not advise girls her age to get into it highlighting how most people ask for sex to teach the ropes on how to get clients, but she was lucky as she was taught for free.
Another 18 year old girl boldly said she left home at 17 to live alone. But her 27 years old boyfriend is paying her rent, funding her lifestyle and supporting her family. She insists she's 18, but tweeps suggest she looks 16.
Some of the comments under this viral videos mirrored disappointments and here are some of the comments.
“It’s shameful for me to say but edo and delta is really hard our girls and youths lifestyle is something else cultism, fraud, prostitution, 15 years old girl already dating and parents are comfortable with it I feel bad for my state”
“It’s actually everywhere they just happened to showcase theirs more than others”
“The future looks scary. It is well”
“Asaba den of internet fraud and hookup girls”.
So, these cases have provoked Nigerians to question the morality standards in Asaba, Delta State.
In very recent years the increase in the rate of internet fraud is very alarming and Asaba being in the heart of it speaks very badly about its capital Delta state. The comments highlighted above spells doom for the future of Nigerians if the youth who are seen as the leaders and drivers of a better country and world at large find peace and solace in corruption.
The parents of these teenagers are seen as failures by the society as they have failed to instill proper morals in their children and even go ahead to support their corrupt lifestyle.
Furthermore, the condition of these teenage girls whose dream and aspiration at that age should be breaking milestones and making their world a better place by being the best version of themselves, is a sad reality stemming from the failed government and economy which have pushed these young ones into these vices just to survive.
