Senator Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has sacked the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service, Michael Hadi Ango.

Senator Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, has sacked the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service, Michael Hadi Ango.

This was made known through a statement issued by the Senior Special Assistant to the Minister on Public Communication and Social Media, Mr. Lere Olayinka, on Friday, 5th of December. 

An official reason on this action is yet to be given.

Consequently, the agency’s most senior director has been instructed to assume leadership of the FCT-IRS in an interim capacity without delay.

The FCT-IRS is the Agency empowered by the constitution to administer tax and nontax revenue accruable to the federal state.

Ango was appointed into office on August 9th, 2024 by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the Acting Chairman of the FCT-IRS following the administration of Mr Haruna Y. Abdullahi, the former Acting Chairman of the agency. 

Punch reports, “The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has sacked the Acting Executive Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory Internal Revenue Service, Mr. Michael Ango.

“The most senior official of the FCT-IRS has also been directed to take over the running of the revenue agency with immediate effect.”
