Mensah Omolola, popularly known as Aunty Esther, is a market shopper who went viral on X in 2023 after being insulted by a lady for advertising her business under a trending post.

Following this incident, everything miraculously turned around for Aunty Esther, as the public randomly credited her with millions of naira.

Earlier this year, an unfortunate turn of events befell X's favorite market shopper when she was diagnosed with cancer.

When people learned of her diagnosis, they reached out with offers of financial support. However, many speculated that she was attempting to defraud those who genuinely offered help, which led to a halt in the assistance she was receiving.

Aunty Esther's condition worsened in November 2025, prompting kind-hearted individuals to bring her case back to X, once again soliciting funds.

Nigerians, known for their generosity, offered help once more, putting the past behind them.

Mensah initially chose traditional treatment, but after much persuasion, she opted to pursue hospital care. This decision was supported by Wizarab and Dr. Sina, the organizers responsible for managing the finances and hospital bills.

As her cancer worsened and spread to her lymph nodes, chemotherapy became her only viable option. However, Mensah refused a blood transfusion due to her religious beliefs, opting instead for a slower alternative, such as injections and special foods.

This decision sparked a major backlash within the Nigerian X community, with many expressing outrage, questioning why she would prioritize religion over her life.

The organizers withdrew in frustration, suggesting that the remaining funds of over 28 million naira be returned to her church or family. Some donors requested refunds, while others demanded that the funds be redirected to help another cancer patient.
