Reflecting on my internship experience

When I first got this internship, I was filled with excitement. I had been searching for an opportunity like this, somewhere I could grow and improve my writing. Writing has always been something I enjoy, but I’ve often felt that my skills needed polishing, especially to reach a more professional level. So when this internship came along, it felt like the perfect chance.

What I didn’t anticipate, however, was the amount of stress and pressure that would come with it. No one warned me just how demanding it would be. At the beginning, it was tough, balancing school activities with writing deadlines was a real challenge. There were days I completely forgot about an article due the next day, and I’d end up rushing to finish it. But looking back, I realize that this pressure taught me something valuable: how to work effectively under stress. That alone is a skill I’ll carry with me beyond this experience.

I remember when I was sick and had to undergo surgery. The love and care I received from everyone during that time was unexpected and truly touching. It wasn’t just about work or writing, there was genuine compassion, something I never expected. That alone made me appreciate the internship even more. It reminded me that we weren’t just here to get trained and leave; we were a team that cared for one another.

Some of the activities suggested by the internship manager caught me off guard, especially the DIY tasks. At first, I questioned how they were relevant to writing. But in time, I saw the purpose. Learning to draw and design pushed me to think more creatively and approach ideas from different angles. Those unexpected tasks turned out to be some of the most enriching.

One of my favorite parts of the internship was our Friday sessions, where everyone shared their thoughts on various topics. I really looked forward to them. They gave me the space to speak freely and express my opinions, which I found both enjoyable and empowering.

Then there was the street interview task. Honestly, that scared me. Approaching strangers and initiating conversations was one of the hardest things I could imagine doing. But I did it! and I’m proud of that. It helped build my confidence and pushed me out of my comfort zone in the best way.

This internship shaped me in more ways than I expected. It challenged me, stretched my limits, and helped me grow not just as a writer, but as a person. And for that, I’m deeply grateful.
