ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR RELEVANCE

This article is a reflective piece that uses the sun, moon, and stars as metaphors to illustrate purpose, individuality, and the importance of every role in life. The work argues that no function is insignificant; every role, whether noticed or overlooked, contributes meaningfully to the wellbeing of others. By imagining the chaos that would result if these bodies competed for relevance, the author highlights how understanding one’s unique purpose sustains harmony.

ACKNOWLEDGE YOUR RELEVANCE

THE ABILITY

The sun brightens the day through its ability to shine on all things; this ability is unique to the sun and cannot be denied. The moon brightens the night as it's structured. It becomes abnormal when the moon appears during the day because that's not its structure. The stars are not exempt from responsibility, as they have their own function as well.

They are all light but function differently. They never struggle with each other. Each carries out its own responsibility as it has been assigned to function. Even the non-living things understand the simple logic behind division of labour. How much more humans, the homo sapiens.

EVERY FUNCTION IS IMPORTANT

The brightness of the sun has caused many to see the goodness in each day, which many would have missed if it ceased to function. The light of the moon has prevented many from stumbling at night; maybe many would have fallen into the pit. This is not just a duty, it is a blessing. Many have found joy in merely gazing at the stars as it twinkles. Each has carried out their duties and, in return, has blessed many. I am sure they are glad to be of help even through their responsibility. They are gladly doing their quota to bless others. They are gladly carrying out their functions for others to benefit.

WHAT IF THERE IS A STRUGGLE?

Imagine the sun struggling with the moon for the night, saying, “You seem to be more recognised than me, probably it's because you dominate the night, and many pay more attention to you." Imagine the moon struggling with the sun for the day arguing that people have time to stare at you during the day while many have gone to sleep while I function, only few people pay attention to me.

The question is - What will brighten the day? What will lighten the night? What will twinkle at night?

*Chaos* - this Chaos won't leave humans out of it; in fact, they will be the recipients of the effects. Each one understanding its function is what has given us light. Each understanding its peculiarity is what has sustained their beauty.

OUR RESPONSE

And what's more, human beings honour the significance of each and understand their importance. Who will ask, what is the importance of the Sun? Or what value is the appearance of the moon? Who can say that the size of a star is too small to be relevant? No one, because each has contributed to human lives even in their little ways. Even the books say …on the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honourable we treat with special honour. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty.

WHAT ABOUT US?

Only if humans can learn from the sun, the star and the moon. We probably would have a better world. Probably, men will not harm themselves for power. The innocents would have survived till now. Probably, the night will not be as terrifying as it is. Perhaps the day will be as peaceful as the garden. Maybe our minds will experience all the peace they deserve. Presumably, our love for one another will fill the whole earth.

THE QUESTION

Do we understand our position? Why do we have to feel inferior or superior? We must learn and understand that no function is irrelevant and no one is without value, not even YOU. If only each one of us sees ourselves for our values.

Maybe we should start considering our purpose, our function first. Understanding the basics of how to contribute your own quota to bless others, and not being the centre of focus. Understand that we are all contributing, and no one is taking the praise alone.

WHAT WE SHOULD KNOW

If a man says the moon is irrelevant, then nothing will beautify the night. If man says the sun is irrelevant, then how will we be fed by the plant?

Your relevancy starts with you understanding your position, the function attached to it, and the value it has. Your Importance is in your perception of what value you are giving even through your small ability. A great contribution is you being able to give your all. You must know that your ALL can be big and your ALL can be small but the end goal is not being the focus but to be able to contribute your quota, that's relevancy. Relevance is not being the centre focus, but being able to contribute your all, whether big or small.
