New York Fashion Week 2026

Designers, celebrities, models and fashion enthusiasts converged in New York again, for the Spring/Summer 2027 season New York Fashion Week September 10 to 15, 2026.

The annual occasion saw some of the top names in fashion come together, in addition to introducing new designers and new concepts for the upcoming season. This week was an entertainment and cultural event not just on the red carpet, but in the front rows of the crowd, too, as celebrities graced the after-parties.

There seemed to be a change in the fashion shows this year. In line with the trend of 'quiet luxury', designers took a step away from subdued and neutral tones, and instead adopted more vivid hues, fun accents and garments that are more expressive. The designers, such as Tory Burch, Ralph Lauren and Michael Kors, unveiled pieces focusing on colour, motion and fun in their wear.  (AP News)

Bold colour was a standout feature, with its return to the scene making a bold statement. A range of blues, from dark navy to turquoise to bright Klein blue were used in various collections. Bright colours were also used, indicating a trend towards making a statement with clothing.  

Another big trend for the week was waist-line cuts. Belts, scarves, cummerbunds and other accessories were used to accentuate the waist and provide structure to an outfit. Fringe also featured in multiple collections, adding in motion and texture to dresses and tailored clothing.  

One of the highlights of the week was Ralph Lauren's presentation. The designer, age 86, showed a collection that was partially inspired by his wife and long time muse, Ricky Lauren. Topics featured traditional tailoring with more casual and contemporary touches such as fringed scarves, flowers and remastered classics.  

The designer further brought back one of his earlier women's pantsuits, demonstrating the ability to continue to reinterpret old fashion for the new generation of people. The presentation finished with Ralph and Ricky Lauren standing side-by-side, making one of the more personal moments of the fashion week.  

One of the other key features of the event was celebrity appearances. Others that were spotted at events and parties held around the week were Bella Hadid, Demi Moore, Mariah Carey, and Christy Turlington. (People.com)

Of course, Bella Hadid was one of the standout looks of the last day of fashion week, which put a trendy spin on a corporate look. She accessorized her grey knit mini dress with vintage jewelry and bold shoes, complementing the ensemble with a crisp white shirt. Not all fashion shows for New York Fashion Week were created equal. New faces in the design world also were showcased, underscoring the industry's interest in new talent. New York-born designer Conner Ives was one of the designers gaining attention in London. His oeuvre is an eclectic mix of glamour and modernity and his burgeoning commercial success has earned him recognition as a designer to watch.  (Vanity Fair)

The week also highlighted the growing trend of fashion and entertainment coming together. Fashion shows have evolved from a private industry show to an event where buyers and editors are not the only ones involved. They've evolved into cultural events that include celebrities such as musicians, actors, athletes and influencers.

The after-parties ran neck in neck with the runway shows in terms of importance. According to Vogue, there were many events in Manhattan, with each brand holding parties and creative installations to announce their collaborations, anniversaries and get consumers engaged.  (Vogue)

There were significant fashion brands achievements during this year's events. Michael Kors and Carolina Herrera were marking their 45th year and Coach was celebrating 85 years. For all fashionistas, New York Fashion Week has much more meaning than just the fashion on the show floor. It's an event that will often give fashion lovers an early preview of what colors, silhouettes, accessories and styling might be on trend in the near future.

The focus on brighter colours and more expressive dressing this year might be a sign of more individual and fun dressing. Designers seemed to be ready to take a leap to bolder expressions and colors, rather than sticking with only neutral hues and minimalism.

It was also a testament to the fact that fashion still continues to unite various facets of popular culture. Designers, models, celebrities, athletes, musicians, photographers and countless people can follow a fashion week from one week.

With New York Fashion Week in the rearview mirror, the focus will shift to the next big fashion capitals, as the international fashion calendar rolls on. But the concepts that were presented in New York will continue to be discussed in the world of fashion and personal style.

Whether it was bold colors, attire that focuses on the waist, fringe, modern tailoring or celebrity street style, New York Fashion Week 2026 gave a snapshot of what fashion will look like this season.

Most importantly, the week proved that fashion isn't just about clothes. It's a type of culture, entertainment and personal expression that remains an effective link among people and countries.
